OUR PHILOSOPHYALL-STAR PERFORMANCE realizes the importance of, and places an emphasis on, individual instruction. In a Team setting, the individual athlete sometimes misses out on the direction he or she needs. At All Star Performance, each athlete is an ALL STAR and will always be treated accordingly. We are the newest and finest baseball and softball training center in the St. Louis metropolitan area. We are not just a location, but a brand you can trust, and our coaches have a vast array of experience working with athletes of all ages and abilities. Ballplayers come in all shapes, sizes and ability levels. Our goal is for each individual to maximize his potential whatever that may be. Ball players are made in the off-season. Make plans this off-season to work on your game. Whether it’s your swing mechanics, pitching motion, throwing, fielding, or strength conditioning, ASP can help you achieve your goals. Matt graduated as a 3 Sport Letterman in 1986 from Charleston High School in southeast Missouri. He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1990 with a Physical Education Degree while also earning American South Conference Player of the year. Matt was a 25th Round Pick of the Texas Rangers in that same year and made his major league debut August 5, 1992 versus the Oakland Athletics. Matt has pitched for seven Major League Organizations (Texas, Philadelphia, San Diego, Atlanta, Colorado, Toronto, and Pittsburgh). Matt played one season in Japan for the Yokohama Baystars in 2003. During Matt’s professional career, he was a double a All Star in 1992, a member of the American League West Division Champion, Texas Rangers in 1996, a member of the National League East Division Champion, Atlanta Braves in 2001,and a triple a All Star in 2005 while setting the single season saves record with 38 that same year. Matt’s enjoyed working with young athletes in various clinics, camps, and private lessons in California, Texas, Washington DC and the Dominican Republic.
SCOTT TERRY –Pitching Instructor Scott Terry is the General Manager of the Oakville Tigers Baseball Club. He has an extensive background in baseball playing professionally for over 17 years.
STEPHANIE HUFFMAN –Softball Pitching Instructor Stephanie graduated from Valmeyer High School in Valmeyer, IL. She played softball, volleyball, and basketball. She will graduate in May 2007 from Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Exceptional Child. Stephanie started her collegiate career off at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park in 2002. During her time with the Highlanders she helped lead the team to their first ever appearance at the NJCAA Nationals and her first All-American title. She currently holds the strikeout record and ERA for a single season. Stephanie continued her softball career where she played Division I softball at Southeast Missouri State University She was a pitcher, first baseman, and a hitter. She was named the team CO-MVP in 2006. Stephanie is beginning her first year as the pitching coach for the Forest Park Highlanders.
DAVE PREGON – Owner, Hitting Instructor Former professional baseball player 1984-87 with the Montreal Expos and the St. Louis Cardinals Dave has been involved with coaching and instructing players since 1982. Dave was a standout player at Georgia Southern University. Ranked in the top ten most prolific homerun hitters in NCAA Div I College History, and holds several school records. Drafted in 1984 by the Montreal Expos, Dave was voted to the All Star team his rookie year. Dave’s professional career ended in 1987 with the St. Louis Cardinals. Dave has helped coach the Australian National Team and has conducted camps as far away as Puerto Rico. In an effort to combine education, culture, and baseball, Dave continues to take players to Puerto Rico and Florida. KEVIN WHEELER– HITTING/THROWING MECHANICS/CATCHING Instructor
Kevin has been playing and or coaching baseball for the past 28 years. Prior to coming to St. Louis he taught private hitting, pitching, and catching lessons with Professional Baseball Instruction of Illinois where he also was active in the schools camps and in their team instruction program. Prior to working with PBI of Illinois, Kevin worked as a "roving instructor" for all three teams (freshman, junior varsity, and varsity) at Grayslake H.S. in Grayslake, IL and spent time before that coaching both high school and collegiate Summer League teams in Michigan. Before he got into coaching Kevin played for the Miami Hurricanes in the early 90's where he played for the "Wizard of College Baseball" Ron Fraser and learned catching skills playing behind 4 time National League Gold Glove winner and 2 time National League All-Star Charles Johnson. Though primarily a catcher in his playing days, Kevin has significant experiance at every position on the field. Off the field, Kevin is a talk show host and sports reporter for KMOX 1120-AM. He is also an established baseball writer who was the "Minor League Baseball Expert" for the Sporting News from 2001-2005 and wrote scouting reports on both Major League and Minor League players for Diamond Library publications from 1998-2007.
JEREMAIH BERGHEGER - Hitting Instructor Jerimiah was the starting shortstop for 3 years with the Gateway Grizzlies, River City Rascals & Cook County Cheetahs where he posted a .371 Average. He was the Waterloo American Legion Post 777 for 4 years, 2 Time All-Star. He started shortstop in 1996 All Star Game at Busch Stadium. He was the American Legion District 22 Player of the Year in 1996. Jeremiah was with the St. Louis Post Dispatch All Metro Team from 1994-1996 & was the Cahokia Conference All Conference in 1994, 1st Team 1995-96. He was a shortstop at Waterloo High School & went to Belleville Area College 1996-1998. Jeremiah was introduced to baseball and scouting by his father, Steve, who was a professional scout with the San Diego Padres and is now working with the Atlanta Braves.
MATT HUMMERT - Hitting Instructor Matt has been involved in the St. Louis Baseball Community for more than fifteen years. In 2005 he served as the Coach of the 15U United States National Team in Japan. As a catcher and infielder, Matt played three years at the University of Missouri, Columbia and one year at Harris Stowe State College. For the previous eight years, Matt has served as a baseball instructor at various area facilities before joining the All-Star Performance team. MINDY HAGER– Softball Hitting Instructor Mindy is the highest ranked softball player that the Mid-West region has seen in the past decade. Mindy was the Lead Softball Coach at A Game Sports/Play Ball USA Clinic where she instructed general game techniques to all ages of girls & equipped set up and designed drills for girls to work on techniques of the game. Mindy was the Head Coach for 14U Missouri Warcats in 2001, Top Ranked AAA Outfielder for Womens California Jazz Softball Team (only player from Mid West recruited for Southern California Team) & made 3rd Team All American. Mindy was the Head Coach at St. Charles Community College from 1997-1999 & placed 2nd in Region. Mindy was an outfielder for Decator Pride & invited to the Canada Cup. She was voted most valuable player for mulitple games. In 1994 she was the assistant coach for Florissant Valley Jr. College.
